Organizational skill -- the ability to plan and schedule work tasks -- is a highly desirable quality to an employer who values productivity. If the job ad is seeking someone who is efficient and focused, properly listing these skills in your cover letter can improve your ability to compete for the job and boost your chances of landing that interview.

1. Direct your cover letter to an individual name and title when possible. Research the company's website or call the receptionist if the name and title is not listed. Sending your cover letter to the appropriate person increases the likelihood it will be reviewed seriously.

2. Keep your cover letter brief and succinct. Begin by introducing yourself and the purpose of your letter. Express your interest in the position or organization. Hiring managers are busy and often receive hundreds of resumes to evaluate. They appreciate brevity.

3. Tailor the second paragraph to target the needs of the organization. Apply your professional experience and accomplishments to the job's requirements.

4. Highlight your organizational skills in the second paragraph. Focus on two or three specific examples that show how your organizational skills suit the job's requirements. Mention your ability to get things done ahead of time or how you prioritize your workflow to increase productivity through "to-do" lists or project management software, for example. Provide examples of your multitasking skills. Don't reiterate information from your resume, however.

5. Close your cover letter with enthusiasm about the position and the company. Restate how your qualifications align with the organization and inform the employer that you will contact him to discuss an interview. Include your phone number and email address and thank the employer for your consideration.
